YB Dato 'Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak (born July 23, 1953) is the current Malaysian Prime Minister since 3 April 2009, as well as the Finance Minister, former Minister of Defence and MP of Pekan, Pahang. He is the son of former prime minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdul Razak, Dato 'Hussein.
Family
His second wife is Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and have three sons, Nizar (born 1978), Nazifuddin and Norashman, and two daughters, Princess Norlisa and Nooryana Narjawa. Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar is getting his first wife and three children.
Education
Born in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, Najib is the elder son of Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and Mohamad Toh Puan Rahah Noah. He was also the nephew of Datuk Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
He received primary and secondary education in SJI. John, Kuala Lumpur, and later studied at the College Men's Malvern in Worchestershire, England. He received a Bachelor with Honours in Industrial Economics from Nottingham University, England in 1974.
Among his previous positions in the cabinet are:
* 1978-1980 - Deputy Minister of Energy, Telecommunications and Posts
* 1980-1981 - Deputy Minister of Education
* 1981-1982 - Deputy Minister of Finance
* 1982-1986 - Minister of Pahang
* 1986-1987 - Minister of Culture, Youth & Sports
* 1990-1995, 1999-2008 - Minister of Defense
* 1995-1999 - Minister of Education
On January 7, 2004, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia
The first time Najib set foot in this area is after his father Tun Razak died. Tun Razak for his contributions to state and national leadership, UMNO Pahang then unanimously put Najib as a member of the Town of Parliament. In fact, not only the chairman of the local party supported the proposal, Sultan of Pahang also approve the appointment.
Political career started at the age of 23 years after being appointed as Head of UMNO Youth,
Pekan, Pahang. Now, after 33 years he served together with UMNO, dated March 28, 2009, he was appointed as UMNO leaders. Follow in the footsteps of his father, The late Tun Abdul Razak, he determined up to defend UMNO struggle for our beloved country.
On January 7, 2004, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia
